Cadence OrCAD Capture 16.6 Tutorial
Let us have a look at how to create a schematic for a halfwave rectifier circuit using OrCAD Capture software.
- Open OrCAD capture. Then a window will open as shown below. Select Orcad Capture and click OK button.
- Then the start page will be opened. From this you can create your schematic designs.
- To create a new schematic, select File-->New-->Project
- Then a window will open and from that select Schematic. Type your schematic's name at "Name" field and select your location for saving schematic at "Location" field using the browse button.
- If you have given the schematic name as sample then sample.dsn will be your orcad capture design file.Double click on it then it will show the schematic folder. Click the "+" sign it will show the page file. On this page you are now going to draw the schematic.
- You can also add another pages by right clicking the schematic folder and selecting new page option
- Draw toolbox : which contains various tool for designing the schematic diagram.
- Now we have to add the components needed for the schematic like diode, resistor etc. For this select Place-->Part or click Place Part tool in draw toolbox.
- Now click "+" in Search for Part in Place Part window. Then type the part needed in the search for field.
- If you don't get the part needed check your library in Path field.
- Example: type Diode in "Search for" Filed. and click search button or press Enter. Then the Libraries field will show the library file name(DIODE/Discrete.olb). click on it and press Add button.
- Then different parts will be shown in Part List field. Select the part you needed . you can also search in part field.
- Now place the part on the page and right click and select End Mode or press ESC button to stop placing.
- Now to add ground click Ground tool in draw toolbox.
- Now we need to connect these components. For this select Place wire tool.
- Now the schematic is ready and we have to give the values to the components. for this select all components and right click and select "Edit properties". A new window will open and enter the values in the fields.
- An Undo warning will pop up after adding properties. Click Yes for saving the changes.
